The HRB annual conference for 2020 will take place on November 24th & 25th and will for the first time be completely online. The conference is designed to enable participants explore the challenges and solutions associated with building trust in research evidence to support informed health decisions. With so many claims made in relation to health it can be hard for people to discern what is fact and what is fiction. COVID-19 has magnified this challenge on a global level.

The 12th International Dementia Conference (Transforming Care & Communities) will take place online, 2nd & 3rd Nov. This annual conference is well established as the leading annual dementia event in Ireland. The aim is to bring together expertise, experience, innovation and passion, delivering a lively set of days that enhances delegates’ knowledge base and leads them to assess their own attitudes and practices.

Alzheimer Europe Conference

The 30th Alzheimer Europe Conference (#30AEC) is organised under the topic “Dementia in a changing world”. It will be hosted online from 20-22 October 2020.

The annual conferences bring together all types of people who are affected by dementia - living with the disease, caring for someone with the disease or working in the field of dementia - and gives delegates the opportunity to share and exchange their experience and knowledge. Speakers from different EU Member States and further afield, share varying approaches and developments from their countries.

Launch of TeamUp For Dementia Research

In July, the Alzheimer Society of Ireland launched TeamUp for Dementia Research in collaboration with DRNI. This new service will connect people with dementia and their families with opportunities to take part in research projects across Ireland.

The goals of TeamUp For Dementia Research are:

Researcher In Focus - Dr. Unai Diaz-Orueta

This month’s Researcher in Focus is Dr. Unai Diaz-Orueta, who works as Assistant Professor in Neuropsychology at Maynooth University. Unai's research focuses on the improvement of cognitive screening and assessment tools for mild cognitive impairment and dementia.
