The Trinity-Ulster-Department-of-Agriculture (TUDA) cohort is a unique and innovative resource for ageing research designed to assess the impact of nutritional, lifestyle, environmental and genetic factors on diseases of ageing, particularly in the prevention of cardiovascular disease, dementia and osteoporosis. A total of in 5,186 participants adults aged 60-102 years were initially recruited in 2008-2012 from the island of Ireland, a follow-up study of 1000 participants from the original cohort sampled 5-7 years after the initial investigation has been completed and a number of randomised controlled trials to investigate the potential benefits of nutritional intervention on cognitive function, depression and bone health have been conducted.
