For the past 20 years, no new licensed drugs have been available for Alzheimer’s disease. Soon, disease-modifying therapies (DMTs) will be available in Ireland to slow its progression. However, these expensive drugs require significant changes in our healthcare system. An implementation plan, or care pathway, is needed to guide clinicians, patients, and policymakers. This plan should involve various stakeholders to ensure inclusive and effective integration of these treatments. This effort will enhance the quality of life for Alzheimer’s patients and serve as a model for future healthcare improvements, ensuring equitable access to advanced therapies for all citizens.

Key objectives:

[1] Create an integrated care pathway for DMTs, effectively integrating them into Ireland’s existing healthcare system.

[2] Use mathematical and health policy methods to simulate various implementation scenarios, determining the most effective strategies for pathway deployment, ensuring robustness and scalability.

[3] Leverage networks and partnerships for broad dissemination of findings, including healthcare providers, policymakers, and the public, to maximise project impact.
