From Despair to Hope
Registration is now open for the Arts 4 Dementia Best Practice Conference 2021: ‘Arts for Brain Health: Social Prescribing as Peri-Diagnostic Practice for Dementia’
Thursday 20 – Friday 21 May.
Hear how social prescribing unlocks access to re-energising arts and wellbeing activities at the onset of dementia, and how engaging in weekly activity empowers individuals and their partners to preserve their brain health and override strain in the lonely fear-filled months leading to diagnosis and beyond.
The aim of the conference is to advance referral to social prescribing as natural GP practice on the point of referral to memory assessment. We’ll be sharing insights from eighty inspired speakers, including:
- Christopher Bailey, head of arts at the World Health Organisation
- Professor Brian Lawlor of the Global Brain Health Institute
- Sir Tim Smit, co-founder of the Eden Project
....and policy-makers, social reformers, primary care, academic specialists in brain health and dementia, and leaders in social prescribing, culture, health and wellbeing from around the UK will highlight cross-sector referral and funding partnership practice for sustainable social prescription programmes, present evidence for creative ageing, and debate the way forward.
