The overarching aim of the PPI Ignite awards is to support and promote capacity building for high quality PPI in health research.
Summary: PPI Ignite awards (supporting public and patient involvement in research) will be jointly funded by the HRB and The Irish Research Council (IRC).
It is envisaged that these awards will broaden the group of health researchers who meaningfully involve patients and members of the public in their research in accordance with the core principle values of PPI. It is expected that the awards will improve the quality of PPI approaches in Irish health and social care research and promote interactions that are seen as fruitful and beneficial by both researchers and PPI contributors. The remit of PPI Ignite relates to health research across all disciplines. Given the increasing emphasis on patient and/or public involvement in research in European research funding, PPI Ignite aims to assist in enhancing the capacity of the Irish research system to collaborate internationally and be more competitive. Each award will run over 36 months. The maximum amount available for each award will be €350,000.
