Manuel Ruiz-Adame Reina graduated in Psychology and Economics from the University of Seville (Spain), has completed two Masters and a Ph.D. in Economics for the University of Granada. He holds a Master in Gerontology from the University of Salamanca, certificate in Business Management from the San Telmo International Institute (Seville) and a Master in Health Economics by the University of Málaga (where he received the award to the best “End of Master Project”). His Ph.D. was voted second best doctoral thesis of the Andalusian Studies Centre (2018), a foundation that depends on the Andalusian Government.
Manuel served as a Professor running the Master in Gerontology from the University of Seville. In the field of Economic he has been interim substitute professor at the Dpt. of Applied Economics III (University of Seville), and is also a lecturer at the University of Granada’s Department of Applied Economics (Campus of Melilla). Manuel Ruiz-Adame is accredited as an Associate Professor at the university.
Current work in Health Economics largely focus on social cost of different diseases linked with aging and degenerative processes (e.g., dementia). Specifically, his current research include: I) The Social cost of early-onset dementias; II) The influence of personality factors of caregivers III) Burn out and mood disorders and economic consequences, and; IV) Covid and cost for the public health services. Beyond health, his work as an economist is also interested in applied topics such as Law or Crime.
Additionally, Manuel is participating in two European projects: one is called “Smart Technologies for personalised Nutrition and Consumer Engagement”, this project is about the development of a nutritional tool to suit nutritional advices to different profiles of people. And the second is called: (RETOTUR-ANDALUCIA) Perceived Risk, Sanitary Standards, and Trends Caused by COVID-19, Guidelines for the Recovery of Tourism in Andalusia.
Manuel Ruiz-Adame was a visiting researcher at the University of Galway in 2019, and since 2022, he has been a visiting researcher within Dominic Trépel's research group at Trinity College Dublin. He collaborates in various projects on social costs and related measures for evaluating brain health.
