Dr. Jonathan Briody is a health economist at the School of Population Health, RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences, where he is the lead for Health and Economic Impact Modelling for the Centre for Chronic Disease and Population Health Research (Converge).
Since beginning his first research role at the Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA), Dr. Briody's interest has been in modelling the cost-effectiveness of intervention in nationally influential chronic diseases.
At RCSI, he conducted an economic evaluation of the cost-effectiveness of precision medicine for metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) and, as a visiting scientist with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), he has adapted a microsimulation model from the national public health agency of the United States to estimate the long-term health and economic impact of diabetes in Ireland and the cost-effectiveness of approaches to manage and prevent this chronic condition.
