Postdoctoral Researcher (0.6 FTE for 4.5 months)

Location: Centre for Gerontology and Rehabilitation, UCC

Project Title: Developing guidance on how Dementia Service Providers and Community Groups can support people with Younger Onset Dementia and their families.

The Centre for Gerontology and Rehabilitation (School of Medicine) in UCC are currently recruiting for a post-Doctoral Researcher (0.6 FTE for 4.5 months) who will work on a research project to develop guidance on how dementia service providers and community groups can support people with young onset dementia and their families. This project is funded by the Alzheimer Society of Ireland (ASI) and the research team will work closely with the ASI and people with young onset dementia to develop a practical guidance document. This project follows on from the work of the 2020 report into Diagnostic and Post-Diagnostic Processes and Pathways for people with Young Onset Dementia in Ireland (https://dementia.ie/wpcontent/uploads/2020/12/Youngonsetdementia.pdf ).

They are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated person with high levels of initiative who is capable of working independently, while under the supervision of the Co-Principal Investigators. The candidate should have excellent communication, organisational, planning and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will have experience in completing literature reviews, qualitative research including conducting interviews and focus-groups, and be skilled in academic writing. Desirable, but not essential, experience is having completed research with people with dementia, or otherwise having experience with patient and public involvement in research.

Salary: €39,130 - €46,442 p.a. (IUA Salary Scale), pro rata 0.6 FTE
